“A good moustache makes a man for many reasons.” – John Oates
The month of November in health, sees a shift from a strong focus on women’s health issues, in October, to a just as important focus on Men’s Health issues and primarily MOVEMBER!
In 2003, two mates sat down at a Melbourne pub and the idea for Movember was born. It has become a formidable cause for Men’s Health – looking at them from a male perspective, acknowledging the stigma around men talking about their vulnerabilities, and encouraging them to take action.
These are both a sad and confronting facts:
* Globally, on average, one man dies by suicide every minute of every day
* 1.4 million men are diagnosed with Prostate Cancer every year
* Testicular Cancer is the number one cancer in younger men
The cause has experienced significant growth over the past 20 years, going from thirty participants in that first year, to over 6 million, and counting. With the premise of raising funds to “grow a mo”, Movember has helped save countless lives, through early detection and/or referrals to the best supports for those suffering, and those by their sides. In all cases, the best thing to do is know the signs, and consult regularly with your GP, especially if you notice changes or have any concerns.

Stay well,

Our fathers, partners, brothers and friends are facing a health crisis, yet it’s rarely talked about. Men are dying too young and we must support their mental health, suicide prevention, prostate and testicular cancer.
We love our men and the fight is on to protect them.
Support Movember, anyway you can…
