Our Vibrant Waterfront

5 November 2024

Geelong Waterfront is an abundant and bright offering for young and old and for every taste and interest. If you’re looking to fill a day, an afternoon or an hour, it definitely caters for all of the above and so much more.

Geelong Waterfront Skate Park – Sit on the sidelines and watch a mix of primary school aged navigate the jumps on their wheels and the hardcore skaters who live to skate. They all come together here in absolute harmony and it somehow really works.

Poppy Kettle Playground – Designed with nature in mind, this playground has without doubt the best local views going. Promising to keep your little people entertained as you sit back and enjoy the glorious outlook.

The Carousel was built in 1882 and years later lovingly restored to its former glory and proudly positioned on a prime central location on Geelong waterfront. It is one of only 200 throughout the world and operates seven days a week, 11am-4pm.

On a beautiful day there couldn’t possibly be a more enjoyable track for a walk than Bollard Trail. 100 bollards all significant to Geelong and its vast history and incredibly clever in their design and creation, and a sprawling ocean vista complete the trek. Starting at Rippleside Park and weaving on through to The Botanic Gardens.

Royal Geelong Yacht Club is home to an abundance of yachts, small, large, later in years, luxury in design. Sitting proudly on our waterfront, awaiting their owners. The Yot Café and Bistro located within the Yacht Club welcomes members, friends, family and visitors. A delicious menu and a water view.

Geelong Waterfront Safe Harbour Precinct – Located near Royal Geelong Yacht Club and an incredible addition to the waterfront. Great too for a walk where you feel like you are literally walking in the middle of the ocean, which you are!

The Geelong Pier has for generations been a favorite for those that enjoy throwing in a line hoping for a catch of the day. It is also a great place to park if your plan is to wander the Waterfront and there’s some food and bar options to explore.

The Giant Sky Wheel is an iconic waterfront favorite offering those that jump onboard vast and incredible views, day and night. Operating until April and a must do when you visit Geelong waterfront.

Eastern Beach Pool – On those days where the backyard blow up pool is not enough, this is the perfect alternative. Sitting literally next to the shoreline of Eastern Beach, this is the perfect place for our small people to safely cool off, with adult supervision at all times of course.

Eastern Beach Pier – Shrouded in history along with years of providing a fun way to cool down on a hot summers day as you jump into the bay. Or a perfect spot for a walk. Either way this is one of Geelong’s most iconic structures.

Geelong Botanic Gardens – Another stunning addition to the history of Geelong, a beautiful spot to wander through and enjoy. Huge, historic tree canopies are in abundance and beautiful fauna lovingly tended both come together to make this a must visit.

Geelong Arts Centre – The major redevelopment of this much-loved arts precinct is not far from completion and the finished product will be awe inspiring.  Add some amazing acts and productions planned to perform throughout 2023 and you’d better jump on their website and start booking your tickets.

Geelong Art Gallery – Directly opposite Geelong Arts Centre and consistently holding new and interesting art exhibitions, this venue also houses some stunning original artworks by renowned artists that are simply breathtaking.

Geelong Regional Library – A new addition to the skyscape of the waterfront but part of the Little Malop Street set, this is called taking a library to new heights, literally. Consistently holding an array of in-house events as well as being Victoria’s largest regional archive and heritage resource centre.

There are also plenty of food options including eat in, take out and a variety of cuisines on offer from casual to a’ la carte dining.

A hop, a skip and a jump and Geelong’s large, vibrant retail sector is also awaiting your discovery. Maybe an hour might not quite be long enough to make the most out of this glorious part of our region, so, put aside a day and get acquainted.
