Narana: Geelong’s Award Winning Aboriginal Cultural Centre
Narana is an Aboriginal Cultural Tourism and Education Centre which has been inducted into the Victorian Tourism Hall of Fame and provides a high quality Victorian Indigenous Tourism experience right here in Geelong.
Nestled amongst friendly emus, wallabies, kangaroos and native trees is Café Narana, a Cultural Display and Performance building, as well as an Art Gallery and quality retail outlet. Open six days, Monday-Friday 9-5pm and Saturday 10-4pm.
Narana staff are always ready to share their extensive knowledge of Aboriginal culture and history. Play the Didgeridoo, paint a boomerang and take a guided or self guided tour through all that Narana has to offer. The inviting retail outlet displays a wide range of Indigenous arts and crafts, books, bush herbs, spices, didgeridoos, boomerangs and many other items.
Narana Café: The staff at Café Narana will delight the senses with conventional and indigenous inspired dishes to enjoy indoors by the fire on cooler days or outside in the shaded alfresco area. The menu features a range of culinary delights for breakfast, lunch or something light, featuring dishes inspired by indigenous ingredients including healthy wholefoods and gluten free options. Relax and enjoy a great coffee in the spacious café or outside on the deck. You can also learn to gather and process native food and medicinal flora as you stroll through the bush-land garden and say hello to the emus, wallabies and kangaroos who are happy to be hand fed!
The café is open Monday to Saturday 9am - 3pm.
Narana Art Gallery: Experience unique and sacred stories and appreciate internationally recognized and emerging Aboriginal and Torres Strait artists.
Gallery open Monday-Friday 9am - 5pm and Saturday 9am - 4pm.
