Here are a few ideas that promise every member of the family good times for all and a great way to spend your much loved holiday time….
Our Local Parks
Barwon Valley Fun Park – Belmont
This park has been purpose built with the plan to keep kids entertained for hours and there are even bbq facilities for the whole family to enjoy if no ones up for cooking at home. There’s decent parking both at the park and nearby and if you feel like a stroll, the Barwon River is flowing right beside it, with a walking path that is well enjoyed by the locals.
Geelong Playspace – East Geelong
This park is centrally located to other great must visit spaces and places and is a definite stand out in both it’s design and there is so much for the kids to explore and enjoy.
Poppy Kettle Playground – Geelong
Now this is one with a magnificent front seat view to Corio Bay. It is also sits right near all the offerings of the waterfront and is comfortable walking distance for adults and kids to head into central Geelong. You could easily spend a few hours or even a good chunk of your day with a picnic on hand or takeout options not too far away. The Geelong Skatepark is not far either, the historic Carousel just a few steps away as is Geelong Pier.
If a crystal clear pool with some pool slide action is more your mood over sandy feet, then Geelong is abundant in it’s offerings:
Eastern Beach is the best of both worlds, for the older kids, the pier and the bay waters are a perfect relief on a warm day. For our smaller ones, they are definitely not forgotten, with Eastern Beach Pool purpose made for toddlers and a sensational playground placed nearby promising happy kids all round.
There are also a series of family-friendly summer events throughout January that include FREE entry, music, food and activities hosted by a different center on selected Sundays throughout the school holidays.
14 January – North Bellarine Aquatic Centre has shaded tier seating and a comfortable lawn area for those that would rather relax by the pool.
21 January – Leisurelink in Waurn Ponds promises fun for all ages and abilities in three pools, a water slide and water playground.
28 January – Lara Swimming Pool will keep things cool and entertaining all summer long.
And if a playground, theme park and plenty of water all rolled into one, sounds of interest then you cannot possibly miss a visit to Adventure Park! Victoria’s largest water theme park will have it’s doors wide open now until 31 March, so while the weather’s warm and the holidays are on, this is a must do for every member of the family. Admission includes all rides and there is an abundance of incredible fun for all age groups.
If the sky clouds over and the rain comes down, don’t despair, there is still so much to discover kids!
Laserquest in Malop St in Geelong is gaming heaven, offering over 120 arcade games to play. They also offer a state of the art Laser tag game, which kids cannot get enough of. Add to that 10 Pin Bowling and the day is definitely sorted.
Waurn Ponds Shopping Centre, is now home to a new Laserquest venue next to Readings Cinema.
The Rock Indoor Climbing Centre in Newtown, has been providing kids climbing skills for the last 22 years! Open seven days during the school holidays from 12pm. The whole family can enjoy the exhilaration and physical benefit rock climbing offers. It also offers the perfect venue for kid’s parties.
Finally, if you’re planning some downtime at home, perhaps a visit to Toyworld in Geelong West or Sensory Kingdom in Belmont are both fantastic retail spaces selling a huge variety of toys, hobbie and educational items.
Whether local or here for a holiday, Geelong offers so much for all age groups and we haven’t even touched on our coastline or amazing beaches….enjoy!
