French Oak Trading Company, based in Anglesea, provides Geelong and the Surf Coast with access to quality solid French Mountain Oak flooring, boards, beams and parquetry; as well as hand crafted, vintage French farmhouse design pieces.
Michael and Toula Roden captivated by the enduring appeal of genuine French Oak, its inherent characteristics, versatility and adaptability to the Australian environment, began a journey over five years ago to source this unique, rare timber and to bring it to the Surf Coast through the French Oak Trading Company.
Originating from the Lorraine region in Northern France, French Mountain Oak is renowned for its wide intricate grain patterns that result from the mountain region's distinctive micro climate. The unique timeless beauty of this product captures the imagination, inspires creativity and is ideal for a broad range of building and design projects including flooring, stair treads, bench tops, joinery and furniture making.
In addition to their core product of solid French Mountain Oak flooring and building products, French Oak Trading also have access to a boutique range of reclaimed French Oak (200 + years) which has been salvaged from old farmhouses, barns and sheds across Europe by a team of experts, to breathe new life and individuality into a broad spectrum of contemporary spaces.
Vintage French Farmhouse Design Elements (50 to 150 years old), have been handpicked by the team for their individuality and style. The range includes beautiful rustic cheeseboards, hand carved wooden bowls, bread proving trays, wheat threshing boards, rare terracotta urns, farm implements, zinc olive/grape picking buckets and barn doors.
