Aboriginal people have lived on this continent for 60,000 years, depending on native plants and animals for all necessities and managing the limited resources well. Learn about the ways they used plants for food, fibre, medicine, weapons, transport, musical instruments and religious ceremonies. Meet your Guide at the GBG front steps.

The Friends’ Plant Nursery is open every Wednesday 9.30 am to 12.30 pm showcasing a wide selection of plants sourced from the Geelong Botanic Gardens. Located at the rear of the GBG.

Geelong School of Botanical ArtClasses
Have you ever considered exploring the world of plants through Botanical Art? Join the talented tutors and be introduced to the materials and methods used to illustrate plants. Small classes and a friendly atmosphere are a key feature of the school. Plant material from the Gardens forms the focus of study. Workshops in a variety of mediums and media with the common theme of plants are also offered regularly.
