Never swim alone, always buddy up, whether you are in a swimming pool or at the local beach. Swim in safe areas when visiting rivers or at the beach. Ideally, this would be between the flags on a beach patrolled by lifeguards. If swimming at a private pool ensure there is an adult nominated to be the dedicated child supervisor.
