Sustainable Living Festival at Deakin Waterfront

Sustainable Living Festival

1 Gheringhap St Geelong

Sunday, March 8 2020 from 01:00 am to 06:00 am

Sunday 8 March • Deakin Waterfront
Come along to the Transition Streets ‘Sustainable Living Festival’ 11-4pm at Deakin Waterfront on Sunday 18 March and learn practical steps you can take to reduce your carbon footprint while building ties within your community.
This free event will feature a range of speakers addressing sustainability and grassroots activism. Workshops will give you the chance to get hands-on and learn new skills, while the market stall area will offer sustainable and environmentally-friendly goods to take home.
This festival is the first of its kind for Geelong and the hope is to inspire and educate people about how they can take practical steps to reduce their ecological carbon footprint. Whether that’s water and energy use, food, transport, and waste and at the same time working towards building better connections with their neighbours.
Comedian Rod Quantock, OAM will MC the event while the Permaculture Formidable Vegetable Sound System band will plant good vibes with their fresh funk-swing sounds. Local food trucks will serve up delicious plant-based vegetarian meals and snacks.
The festival is also an opportunity to find out more about Transition Streets and how to start a local group in your neighbourhood.
Transition Streets is a grassroots initiative that focuses on connecting and supporting neighbourhoods around the issues of sustainability. Renters and owners alike are encouraged to link up with neighbours to make their homes and streets more energy efficient, less resource-dependent, more self-reliant with food, less wasteful, healthier and more enjoyable places to live.
