Locals and visitors to the region will be excited to hear that Brown Magpie Wines will re-open Melbourne Cup weekend in time for the summer season, bringing exciting new vintages to the public. The drive to the Cellar Door is a quick detour off the Great Ocean Road, and a worthy stop to stock up the wine rack with great wines to drink over the silly season.
An absolute favorite amongst the locals is the elegant and lively Loretta Sparkling Blanc de Noir. Its beautiful label suits a party atmosphere and makes a stunning gift. Be amongst those in the know who will all be popping a bottle on New Years Eve.
If you are having a traditional Christmas lunch you cannot go past the Brown Magpie Shiraz and Pinot Noir. If you are having an Aussie style seafood lunch, the Pinot Gris, Pinot Grigio and Sparkling and will all pair beautifully and be smash hits on the table. The new release Shiraz Rosé is delightful, fun, great value and goes with everything. The Pinot Gris and the Loretta Sparkling make great aperitifs to get the party started.
It is little known that Brown Magpie Wines also grow their own olives on site and their olive oil is available at the Cellar Door. The new vintage Olive Oil is one of the best yet. It is cold pressed, extra virgin, green and peppery. Amazing to dip into bread or add the final flourish to your favorite dishes. This new limited release olive oil has a gorgeous label and would make an excellent local gift with provenance for a host or foodie.
