Freshwater Creek Steiner School - Spring Fair and Open Day
Freshwater Creek Steiner School is hosting its popular annual Spring Fair and Open Day on Saturday 26 October. The Fair is a fun, family-friendly day out and features Pixies Playground, an area for pre-schoolers with its own petting zoo; a story tent featuring story reading (with music!) by beloved Victorian author Alison Lester and other local authors; artisan marketplace; Silent Auction; and entertainment from local and school musicians. We also encourage everyone to build a billy cart to race in our 3rd annual Billy Cart Challenge. Entry is open to all ages. (See the Calendar page on the school’s website fwcss.vic.edu.au for details on rules and how to enter.)
The Spring Fair and Open Day is your opportunity to see first-hand the beautiful rural school grounds of Freshwater Creek Steiner School. This year, Freshwater Creek Steiner School joins schools around the world to celebrate 100 years of Steiner education. From the first Waldorf school in Stuttgart in 1919 there are now 1,182 Waldorf and Rudolf Steiner schools in 66 countries. 50 Australian Steiner schools are part of this vibrant, innovative and diverse global community.
‘Now, more than ever before, Steiner education is recognised as a highly valued approach to develop flexible and agile thinking and an ability to collaborate and thrive in a 21st Century world’. Virginia Moller CEO of Steiner Education Australia.
At the Spring Fair you can learn about the inspiring, challenging curriculum the School offers with a presentation by the Head of School, Gabby Brennan, and talk to class teachers who will be on hand to answer your questions about this distinctive style of education.
The School is working towards a zero waste event and encourages all visitors to plan ahead and bring their own keep cup, refillable water bottle (fresh drinking water will be provided by Barwon Water), and shopping bags. An eclectic and delicious range of food will be on offer from perennial favourites Sidewalk Cantina, Taste of Tibet and the Dolly Bus, as well as homemade cakes and chai at the Chai Café. Pack a picnic basket with plates and cutlery and make use of our wash station! We hope to see you there.
