Geelong Dragon Boat Club
FREE Come and Try Day
Saturday 31 January: 9 – 11am
Dragon boating began in China, historically connected to a legend of villagers trying unsuccessfully to rescue a favourite priest from drowning in a river. It has become a world-wide sport, and the Geelong Dragon Boat Club offers friendship, fitness and lovely scenery while paddling on the Barwon River. The twelve-metre boat has ten benches, allowing a total of up the twenty paddlers, guided by someone controlling the sweep oar at the back.
Take out a dragon pass to get a free one month trial – “come and try”.
Paddles and Life Jackets are provided. The club caters for people of any gender and any age beyond ten years. You can choose your level of intensity, enjoying the cruise or working hard. You are warmly invited to come and try this fast-growing sport.
