Apollo Bay WORDfest

26 July @ 10:00 am - 28 July @ 2:00 pm

If you love reading, writing, speaking or simply listening to the spoken word, this year’s Apollo Bay WORDfest will charm and delight.

In the coastal town of Apollo Bay, nestled along the Great Ocean Road, a 3-day literature festival will take place over the last weekend of July 2024, from Friday 26th to Sunday 28th.
Join Shankari Chandran in conversation, author of ‘Chai Time at Cinnamon Gardens’ and winner of the Miles Franklin Literary Award 2023. Hear also from South-Sudanese Australian writer Kgshak Akec, whose debut novel ‘Hopeless Kingdom’ was shortlisted for the Miles Franklin Award 2023.
Critically acclaimed authors Margaret Hickey, Rijn Collins and Anna Kate Blair will join the impressive line-up.

This year WORDfest is also offering a juniors session run by Jordan Gould and Richard Pritchard, co-authors of ‘Wylah The Koorie Warrior’ which was shortlisted for the Australian Book Industry Award this year. This session will be fun and interactive, perfect for those creative kiddos!

Plenty of other events will be happening across different venues in Apollo Bay over the weekend. Stand-up poetry, a live debate, book club sessions and writing workshops as well as delicious food and drinks are what you can expect at WORDfest this year. Spread the WORD!
