After Walter Hopps Exhibition

12 August - 20 September

Calling All Artists!

Platform Arts will hand over control of their gallery curation, in an open-call exhibition titled ‘After Walter Hopps’.

Artists from Geelong, Surf Coast, Bellarine, and surrounds are invited to exhibit artworks on a ‘first-come, first-served’ basis. The installation opportunity runs 12-31 August, which will be followed by an official exhibition where artists have the option to list their works for auction. After Walter Hopps concludes on Friday 20 September with a closing celebration in Gallery One at Platform Arts. This exhibition is inspired by renowned maverick curator Walter Hopps, whose ‘36 Hours’ project was held at MOTA (Museum of Temporary Art), Washington, USA, in 1978. Hopps’ seminal exhibition was an invitation for any artist to take a single work to the gallery without any chance of rejection or censorship.
