International Lighthouse Weekend

Cape Otway Lightstation is offering a weekend of fantastic experiences and great food options, plus fun and games for the whole family in celebration of International Lighthouse Weekend. Radio operators will be in residence at the Telegraph Station, making contact with fellow enthusiasts around the world.
Lightkeeper's Wife's Dinner: Enjoy a four course dinner, including local food and beverages prepared in the historic Lightkeeper’s Café on Saturday 16 August at 7pm. Includes a night tour of the lighthouse. Cost $65pp. Bookings are essential.

The iconic lighthouse is the highlight of the Great Ocean Road and offers so much within the Lightstation grounds.
Hundreds of lives were unfortunately lost in shipwrecks off Cape Otway, this led to the building of the Lightstation in the foothills of the impenetrable forests of the Otways. Australia's first submarine cable link was laid between Cape Otway and Launceston in 1859. The Telegraph Station has been meticulously restored.
A radar bunker, built in 1942 after a United States ship was sunk by a German mine off Cape Otway, has been renovated.
The Lightstation precinct is the traditional home of the Gadabanud people, an isolated but resourceful Aboriginal clan.
You can immerse yourself in the extraordinary history of the lighthouse keepers, watch whales at play, and soak up the natural beauty of the Cape for a few hours, a day, or stay a while in their heritage accommodation.
The Lightstation is at the heart of the Great Ocean Walk, for exploration off the beaten track check out the Lightkeeper's Shipwreck Discovery Tour.
